A Fresh New Look for i-UG

A Fresh New Look for i-UG

We’re excited to share a fresh new look for i‑UG.  A new visual identity that reflects who we are today and where we’re heading as the UK’s IBM i user community.

For more than three decades, i‑UG has been a place where IBM i professionals, developers, architects, vendors and learners come together to share knowledge, strengthen skills and support each other. The platform has grown, the technology has evolved and the needs of the community have changed.

With that evolution, we felt it was the right moment to refresh our visual identity and introduce a new logo that better represents the modern, forward‑looking IBM i landscape.

This isn’t just a cosmetic update. Our new identity marks the beginning of a broader modernisation effort, one that reflects the energy, collaboration and technical ambition driving the UK IBM i community today.

We’re investing in clearer communication, more accessible content, stronger digital presence and a more unified brand across all our activities. The new logo is the first visible step in that journey.

As part of this modernisation, we’ve also taken an important step in how i‑UG operates behind the scenes. We are becoming a limited company and are now VAT registered.

This change gives us a stronger foundation for growth, clearer governance and the ability to work more effectively with partners, venues and vendors.

It’s a practical move that supports our long‑term plans and ensures the user group is structured for the future, transparent, sustainable and ready to scale as the community continues to evolve.

The new logo captures connection, momentum and newness. It represents a community rooted in decades of proven technology yet confidently embracing what comes next: open‑source adoption, cloud integration, automation, modern tooling and the new generation of IBM i professionals entering the field.

As we all know, IBM i is not a legacy platform; it’s a living, evolving ecosystem — and i‑UG is evolving with it.

Over the coming weeks, you’ll start to see the new i‑UG identity appearing across our website, social media channels, PowerWire articles, event materials and other communications. This refresh is part of a wider initiative to make i‑UG more recognisable, more approachable and more aligned with the modern IBM i landscape. We want members and newcomers alike to feel part of a vibrant, active and forward‑thinking community.

Of course, a user group is defined not by its logo but by its people. i‑UG has always been powered by its members, the professionals who attend our meetings, share their experiences, challenge assumptions and help each other grow. We want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who contributes: our members, vendor partners, speakers, volunteers and supporters.

Your involvement is what makes i‑UG such a valuable and welcoming space for anyone working with IBM i in the UK.

This refresh is also a celebration of the journey we’ve taken together. From technical deep dives and hands‑on workshops to community discussions and industry insights, i‑UG has always aimed to provide practical, relevant and high‑quality content. As IBM i continues to evolve — with new releases, new tooling, new integration patterns and new opportunities, our identity now reflects that same sense of progress.

A fresh new look. A renewed direction. A community moving forward.

We’re excited to continue this journey with you and we hope the new identity signals the strength, relevance and future‑focused spirit of the UK IBM i community. Whether you’ve been part of i‑UG for years or you’re just discovering us, we look forward to welcoming you, learning with you and helping shape the next chapter of IBM i in the UK.
